I am a B.F.A. graduate and am currently studying in a Fine Arts Figurative graduate painting program.
I chose the figure to paint mostly because of my own fascination with this mystery of life and and its connection to our body. Im enthralled by how our life get's played out here, in the underlying essence of a face, the slight of a jaw, the curve of a lip, in a scar or in the arch of mishapen well worn feet. The body itself becomes, in time, a map of a life lived.
I consider myself more a topographer, really, as I reflect and record the effects of weather (time and emotions) on a landscape (face and or figure). Human beings are by far the most interesting maps I've ever traced, or laid eyes upon, and that's why I'm fascinated by them and me. I am ever curious to capture this enigma, any way I can. Be it with paint, charcoal, or film. This is my obsession. To solve this riddle, or at least get one more piece in the hole, in the puzzle called life.
